Swine Flu

For several weeks now Swine Flu has been in he news.  By now thousands in the UK have suffered its effects.   Why is this post on this blog I hear you say…

Well, we had a job recently in the Bradford area of England.  Our team travelled from Dublin, through Wales, past Manchester and on to our destination.  The accommodation we had at the New Model Farm on the ourskirts of Bradford was excellent.  The job went smoothly.  After 4 days we started our journey home.  Once more, no problems… tell a lie there, the radiator hose on the car burst in the middle of a downpour Noah and the Ark would have had a tough time in – anyway…

I’m sure getting soaked to the skin and beyond didn’t help.  But about 16 hours latter as I sat at this desk I noticed a cough.. not much, in fact the first cough got past me unnoticed.  On the second little cough a few minutes later I thought… em, swine flu?  Of course it wasn’t, more like Man Flu = nothing.   Well, did I have a fun end to the day.  within the hour I was flat out in bed, coughing, head thumping, stomach going round and round.  On contacting the doctor – yep.. I have Swine Flu.  As did my colleague.  Oh the joys of the next 5 days on Tamiflu!   It is amazing how people avoid you, very entertaining to see hear the excuses, and see the sudden about turns – even after you are supposed to be clear of it.

To anyone suffering Swine Flu you have me sympathy.  Take it easy and look after yourself – it will pay in the end.  The silver lining to the cloud is that we now have immunity to the virus – so we shouldn’t have any reduction in our ability to serve our clients this Winter.
